Omnibus directive – guidelines from the OCCP
We have clarified rules for showing the price 30 days before the reduction resulting from Omnibus. What the OCC does not like:
– Listing the current selling price and the crossed price without including information on what the crossed price is.
– Displaying the current selling price and the crossed price, with a message explaining that the crossed price is the lowest price of the commodity that was in effect during the 30-day period before the discount was implemented, is only available after expansion.
– Using other reference values when presenting discounts (crossed price), omitting the lowest price from 30 days before the discount.
– Calculate the size of the discount (e.g., 20%, £150) with reference to the last or standard price of the goods, not the lowest price of the last 30 days.
– Using wording other than “the lowest price of the goods in the 30 days before the discount,” i.e., for example, “reference price,” “previous/last lowest price,” “price from 30 days before the promotion.”
– Presenting information about the lowest price in effect during the 30 days before the discount in an illegible way: font, color scheme, contrast.
