Google makes more changes to Search Console
New year, more changes on the Internet. In November, Google made significant changes to Google Search Console indexing statistics. In early January, GSC received another significant update. This time, the changes affected the Status report, which allows you to see which pages have been indexed and whether there were any problems during indexing. The update was made based on input from the development community. The changes are aimed at better understanding why some pages were not scanned or indexed. So it’s not a significant overhaul, but na will help to analyze the indexing status of a page even better.
Changes to Google Search Console
Essentially, only 4 changes have been made:
- Removal of the general problem type “indexing problem” – all indexing errors should now be assigned to a problem with a more precise solution.
- Pages that were submitted for indexing but were blocked by robots.txt and were indexed are now reported as “indexed but blocked” (warning) instead of “submitted but blocked” (error)
- Adding a new error category: “indexed without content” (warning)
- More accurate reporting of apparent 404 error
